Who We Are
KVAS FBC. is owned by a husband and wife duo, Amy & Zac Kvas.
Together they work to drive the cocktail scene in Niagara and beyond, create the most premium cocktails syrups & garnishes, and give their much loved customers, the confidence and ability to bartend at home or professionally.
Amy Kvas grew up working on her grandparents grape farm, and got her official start in the alcohol industry working at Dillon's Small Batch Distillers where she developed a love for spirits and cocktail culture.
She then carried through that passion by becoming a graduate of the Winery & Viticulture program at Niagara College. After graduating, she took a job as a cellar hand at Stratus Winery, before later moving to be the Retail Manager of The Exchange Brewery.
Zac worked two vintages at Ravine Vineyards (St. Davids, ON), and one vintage at Gilbert Family Wines (Mudggee, AU) before shifting into the world of bartending.
Zac took a job at Backhouse Restaurant in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and within a year became the Head Mixologist. He worked to develop terroir driven cocktails, combining local ingredients with classic inspiration.
He later moved to Wayne Gretzky Estates where he curated a farm-to-bar cocktail program that has become one of the busiest and most successful programs in the region.
Kvas Fine Beverage Co. started in 2018 as a side project. Working behind the bar and at festivals, both Amy and Zac saw a large demand for both cocktails, along with the ability to recreate cocktails at home.
Zac being the confident and ambitious individual he is, skipped the business plan and instead, immediately found a packing facility that would assist us in producing our syrup. Thankfully it worked out beautifully. Instead of predicting what would happen, producing in small batches allowed us to “test the market” and thankfully, the market was thirsty!
In less than 48 hours, the first batch of Kvas Fine Beverage Co. Simple Syrups was sold out, with no retail store, or website. Since then, we have created a line up of 5 year-round simple syrups, 2 seasonal simple syrups and 1 garnish (our famous Black Pepper Whisky Cherries!). All our syrups are all natural and use a base of either local honey, maple syrup and/or fruit. The result is a syrup that has flavour, as opposed to pure sweetness. We approach our syrups as you would a good sauce, wine, or beer, with balance, patience, and good ingredients!
What started as a side project, has now become an entire family affair, with no hopes of slowing down anytime soon!
Zac and Amy currently reside in St. Catharines (Niagara, Ontario), with their three year old son Henry, their second baby boy, Crew, a golden doodle named Myrtle and a Newfoundland named Mason.
